When I was pregnant with my daughter, my husband and I, feeling wholly unprepared for the experience of childbirth, took a series of courses with the Childbearing Society to help prepare us for that momentous event. The courses were interesting and informative and while I personally feel like we pretty much forgot everything we’d learned when faced with the “Oh, wow, this is actually happening” moment of birth, we both are really grateful that we took the courses as we were much less nervous as our daughter’s due date approached than we might have been. And so I’m so pleased to be back in contact with some of the wonderful women who run this organization and teach its classes.
One of the instructors, Jasmine Cairo, runs EastVan Babes, a company offering gorgeous custom and ready-made baby wraps, slings and hats and I was so excited to be able to do the photos for her new website. She recruited a beautiful group of moms, dads and babies to model her various products and we all met at the Italian Gardens at the PNE to take some pictures. I had never been there before and it was such a beautiful little spot and so conducive to happy, baby-wearing photos. All of the babies were very happy considering the very warm afternoon and the moms and dads all looked gorgeous cradling their babes. One of the things I loved most about having a little baby was being able to keep her so close in a wrap or carrier and I feel a real fondness for that loving way of moving about your day with your little one, all of which made me all the more pleased to do be able to do this session. Enjoy!
