One of the most meaningful and rewarding parts of being a family photographer is the privilege of documenting families’ lives year after year. Every time I get an email from a returning client with a request to plan a photo session, my heart fills right up because I can’t really think of a greater honor as a family photographer than the trust that is implicit in that request.

I have been lucky enough to photograph this wonderful family three years in a row now. Each year I’ve been delighted to document how their beautiful children have grown and changed. This year I found out they’d bought a new home and while I couldn’t go inside, I did get to spend a wonderful morning photographing them playing in their yard and strolling on the trails near their home. And while the specifics of their life have indeed changed since our last session, the love, joy and humor that they share certainly haven’t.

Just like everyone else navigating life in a raging pandemic, they’ve had to adapt to new realities in sometimes uncomfortable ways. And yet, you won’t see any of that here. Just as we’ve all had to change in ways big and small this year, if we’re as lucky as this family the warmth and joy that connects us to the people we love remains unchanged.
