Oh, those tiny toes! Each time I have the pleasure of photographing a brand-new baby I am astounded by those beautiful, tiny, perfect little toes. Perfectly wrinkled, curled and almost impossibly small, that one little sight always takes me right back to the time my two sweet girls were brand-new. The overwhelming emotion and change of those first days with a new baby are hard to describe and I feel that each time I do a session of hospital newborn photos in Madison that I’m really working to provide a tiny time capsule for families to look back on and remember just how very special those first few days or weeks with a new baby are.

I met this lovely mama before the birth of her baby at a fabulous annual event in the Madison area called Bloom, put on by Madison Mom. (If you’re expecting a baby, planning to adopt or have recently had a baby you should definitely check this event out!) And I was so very happy to be able to photograph her months later with her husband and brand new baby just days after his birth.

When I arrived to take the photos of this lovely family of three, I could feel the love in the room. Mom and dad were exhausted, of course, but full of joy and adoration for their beautiful new son. This session just happened to be my last of 2019 and it gave me the definite pleasure of ending my year on a heart-warming note by reminding me of all the beauty in life and the love that is possible.
