As soon as I heard about about the amazing Front Steps Project started by Cara Soulia and Kristen Collins, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. Schools in Madison had just been closed, my husband had begun working from home and I was, quite suddenly, off work for the foreseeable future. The idea of being able to meet and photograph families during this time AND raise money for those in my local community who need it most right now sounded amazing.
And so my part in this project began. When Governor Evers issued the Safer-At-Home order, I stopped photographing for this project. But I happily started back up again once it was safe to do so. And on May 30 I finished my part in this project.
I want to extend a HUGE thank you to all the families who participated: together we raised over $2,000 for the United Way of Dane County. And #thefrontstepsproject as a whole has raised over $1.5 million for local charities across the country–WOW! It was an absolute delight to take these photos and I’m proud to have contributed in some small way to support the greater Madison community.
Thank You!
In love, health and solidarity,
Catherine
